Introducing the first All About Money report
19 December 2021
We've just launched the All About Money report - the first in a quarterly series of reports looking at how people in the UK are managing their finances.
Here are some of the most interesting findings:
• More than half of us keep money worries from our partners. Men are more likely than women to stay quiet about their concerns.
• 2 million people never check their bank account - meaning they could be falling behind on their finances without realising. 84% of us check at least once a week, though.
• Women are more likely to discuss their finances with others than men - although they're also more likely to feel bad about it.
• One in seven people feel obliged to spend a minimum amount at Christmas, even if it might break their budget.
• More than a third (35%) of people are worried about the cost of heating their home over the festive period.
• One fifth of couples argue more over Christmas because of money.
• Half of us (around 25 million adults) have no personal debt, not including mortgages - although more than a fifth of those who are in debt owe between £5,000 and £10,000.
