Think Insure and you're covered

Life is uncertain - but that doesn't mean you can't bring some certainty into it. Getting life cover can be a great way of protecting yourself and your loved ones, so you know the family finances are protected if something happens to you.

That could mean paying off the mortgage, receiving a lump sum, or helping you cope with a period of illness that means your household's breadwinner can't go out to work.

There are different kinds of life cover, depending on what kind of protection you're looking for.

At Think Insure, we specialise in:

Whole of life cover

As the name says, whole of life cover covers you for your whole life - whether you die in 5 years or 50, your dependants should receive a payout. Although it can cost you more per month than term life cover, it can provide lasting peace of mind.

Term life cover

Term life cover protects you for a fixed term. It could be 5 years or 50, depending on what you want. If you die in that period, the policy should pay out to your dependants - but if you die once the policy has expired, they won't receive anything from that policy.

There are two kinds of term life cover:

Level term life cover

The simplest form of term life cover, level term life cover means your monthly payments (premiums) are fixed at the start of your policy for a fixed period, and so is the size of the payout your dependants would receive in the event of your death.

Decreasing term life cover

Unlike level term, a decreasing term life cover policy pays out more at the start of the policy, but less as time goes on. It's often called mortgage term life cover, as many people take out this kind of policy to make sure their dependants have enough to clear their mortgage if they die before it's paid off.

Critical illness cover

What if you didn't die but something else happened that had a major effect on your family's finances?

If you were diagnosed with a critical illness, this could drastically affect your financial security. It could mean you're simply unable to go out to work, which could be disastrous if you're the breadwinner in your family.

Likewise, critical illness cover could help you pay for any special help and care you need if you're diagnosed with a critical illness, provided your policy has not expired.
