Now, we know it's only October, but Christmas can be a really expensive time of year. Buying presents early and spreading the cost over a few months can really help you out come January - when a lot of other people will be reading their bank statements in despair!

So to get you started, we have found some deals on books and games, wine and things for the kids. Amazon.co.uk has over 50% off selected books until the end of January and books make great stocking fillers. Discounts are available at the moment on the Cheryl Cole autobiography, new cook books by Nigella, Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver, and the now legendary '50 Shades of Grey' - or you could buy the full trilogy for £10.99 at theworks.co.uk (until the end of the month).
