New car registrations up 11.5% in April

The number of new car registrations increased by 11.5% in April, compared with the same time last year, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
148,793 new cars were registered that month, compared with 133,475 in April 2009. It was the tenth consecutive month in which new car registrations had shown an annual rise.
A car finance expert for Think Money said that the increase in car loans will have had an effect on the figures.
"A lot of new car purchases are made through car loans, and we`ve seen a lot of evidence that the car loans market is improving.
"There are competitive deals available, so we advise people looking for a car loan to take the time to speak with a loans adviser about where to find the best deal."
